BUDS N BLUE JAYS
Jesse
Perhaps it was the $21 that went unused in the auction that brought Jesse to #12. Jesse will be looking to stars Corey Seager and Matt Olson to lead him back into contention. It will be interesting to see what Jesse will do with his 6 NA players, 2 (Painter & Pfaadt) of which cost $6 each in the 2023 auction. With an off year in 2022 and a manager record of 83-46 (.643%) since 2016, surely Jesse can't finish 12th again, can he?
11
VLADDY'S BATTIES
Dane
With only $41 going into the 2023 auction, Vladdy's Batties decided to spend 46% of his budget on a thin position, 2B (Muncy $13, McMahon $6). With one of the more balanced rosters in the league, Vladdy's Batties will lean on Vlad ($42) this season and hope he can return to his MVP form.
10
DESIGNATED SHITTERS
Josh
The second biggest budget certainly did not go wasted when Josh reeled in the big fish, Mike Trout ($57). Trout wasn't the only big name joining Designated Shitters... Jose Ramirez also joins the squad for $58. Designated Shitters may have the best bats around but is the pitching enough to escape the basement?
9
GALLENSOFFUN
Ryan
Despite not having a lot of money coming into the auction, Ryan was very successful. Starling Marte ($5) and Francisco Lindor ($15) joins GallensOfFun. In Ryan's second year, he looks to have continued success with another playoff berth (finished 4th in 2022). Will he trade 30% of his budget again to do it?
8
ADAM'S TEAM
Adam
After a 4-15 record in 2022, Adam looks to return to his 2021 ways when he lost in the championship final and finished 2nd. Adam's Team is revamped with an overhaul in the pitching department. Gerrit Cole ($43), Jacob DeGrom ($36), Max Scherzer ($35) & Max Fried ($36) ALL join Adam's Team. Keep your fingers & toes crossed for a healthy season!
7
BACKDOOR SLIDERS
Brock
Can Aaron Judge ($34) do it again? Backdoor Sliders welcome back a similar roster as 2022, where they finished 2nd. Backdoor Sliders welcome back Paul Goldschmidt ($27 - up from $24 in 2022), Kris Bryant ($11) & Alex Bregman ($18). Perhaps Backdoor Sliders is too good negotiating salaries because they left a whopping $19 on the table during the 2023 auction. Will that come back to haunt them?
6
FISHING FOR TATERS
Jeremy
Ace Jose Berrios ($34) will have some support (thankfully!) as Zack Wheeler ($26), Yu Darvish ($28) & Aaron Nola ($31) all join Fishing For Taters. It appears Jeremy will be fishing for taters as the bats do not look as strong as the pitching. This could change if Brandon Lowe bounces back and Jarred Kelenic carries his spring success into the regular season.
5
WAMCO
Steven
The heart & soul of WAMCO, Freddie Freeman ($49), returns to the organization in what could be his final season with the club. Freddie isn't the only stud on the team. The bright spot on WAMCO has to be the quality cheap starting pitching. Sandy Alcantara ($20), Julio Urias ($20), Christian Javier ($10), Logan Gilbert ($10) & Jose Urquidy ($12) all look to be good value entering the 2023 season. Can WAMCO go on another 15 week winning streak like we saw in 2022 and capture their first championship title (in the keeper & auction era)?
4
GOATANI
Brandon
With only 6 spots to fill, we will see a similar GOATani team but with 1 big addition. GOATani made a huge splash in the 2023 auction by acquiring Manny Machado's services for $43. GOATani finished the 2022 season with a 8-11 record. With a similar team as 2022, will history repeat itself? However, entering the 2023 season, there does not seem to be a weakness in this organization, especially if the young pitching continues to improve.
3
QUINN BASEBALL TEAM
Quinn
Touch 'Em All's most improved organization? Is 2023 the year Quinn conquers fantasy baseball? To date, Quinn has a shocking .267 winning percentage. With a mix of young valuable keepers (Bobby Witt Jr $6, Wander Franco $16, Spencer Strider $7) and a successful 2023 auction (Juan Soto $55, Luis Robert Jr $18, Bryce Harper $30, Eloy Jimenez $20), Quinn Baseball Team has never looked better. On the surface, it looks like Quinn Baseball Team is one starting pitcher away from not only clinching a playoff spot but becoming an extreme threat for years to come.
2
BUXTON A NUT
Morgan
With only $14 entering the 2023 auction and 9 spots to fill, we will see a similar team from Buxton A Nut to start the 2023 season (notable subtractions being Gerrit Cole, Max Scherzer & Matt Olson). In what was a "disappointing" 2022 season when they finished 6th, Buxton A Nut continues to have their eyes on the prize. However, with being extremely aggressive the last two season and the spring injury to Jose Altuve (broken thumb), will Buxton A Nut have to hit the reset button sooner rather than later?
1
CEASE AND DESIST
Tanner
Finally.. our #1 ranked team in Touch 'Em All entering the 2023 season. The 2022 champion - Cease and Desist (Troutstanding 5.0 in 2022). With studs all over the diamond, there's a chance Touch 'Em All could see the first back-to-back champion in history. Valuable retainable studs are the backbone of this organization. Cease And Desist added to this core with "risky" cheap bets such as Cody Bellinger ($7) and JD Martinez ($5) during the 2023 auction. Cease And Desist are the biggest threat in the greatest fantasy baseball league of all time.
